DCOGC Organizes First Open Government Summit

D.C. Council Member Muriel Bowser (D-Ward 4) outlined progress that the District of Columbia has made in advancing transparency at the first Open Government Summit organized by the D.C. Open Government Coalition (DCOGC) on Tuesday, March 13.

Bowser praised the steps taken in advocating openness, but said that new institutions – such as a proposed independent Open Government Office– needed to be established to minimize the effect of politics ontransparency initiatives. The D.C.
