During the D.C. Council's recent oversight hearings on agency performance, witnesses have testified to a troubling lack of transparency in at least two departments. Both the Department of Corrections and the Metropolitan Police Department came under fire for poor responses to D.C. Freedom of Information Act requests. Read testimony on the Department of Corrections from Philip Fornaci (D.C. Prisoners' Project of the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs) here, and testimony from Fritz Mulhauser (ACLU) on the Metropolitan Police Department here.
